Air traffic controllers

As our skies become ever more crowded, Air Traffic Services are at the heart of a safe aviation system. Air Traffic Controllers and support staff are facing increasing commercialisation and restructuring

At the ITF, we are committed to defending the safety professionalism of air traffic management work and ensuring sufficient investment for the future.

Cabin crew

Cabin crew duties go well beyond the famous 'friendly smile'. Cabin crew are safety and security professionals whose role in the event of accidents, emergencies or passenger crises is crucial.

With our affiliated cabin crew unions, the ITF works with international bodies to promote safety standards that recognise the life-saving role of cabin crew.

We support better regulation of flight and duty times to ensure protection against fatigue, regulated limits for cabin baggage and a safer, healthier cabin environment.

Ground staff

Increasingly, ground services - check-in, baggage handling, cleaning, catering and aircraft maintenance - are being contracted out. As airlines withdraw from these activities, huge new global markets are created. This has led to the growth of a new set of ground service trans-national companies.

As airports too are privatised, they are becoming more commercial and global in reach.

In the ITF, we bring workers in these sectors together to ensure that safety, service quality and community needs are respected by these new trans-national companies.

Justice for Pedro Zamora and STEPQ
Join the ITF in calling for justice in Guatemala. Pedro Zamora, General Secretary of the Dockers' union STEPQ, was brutally murdered in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, while driving his two children from the port hospital. Now, other union leaders face similar threats of violence. We must ensure the guilty are brought to justice ¡No hay impunidad! more >>

Ryan Be Fair Campaign

Ryan-Be-Fair
It is regrettable that unions don't seem to be welcome at Ryanair, because working together with unions does not ruin the business concept of low cost carriers. more >>
