ITF youth pack: helping unions to organise young workers
To build strong unions now and for the future it is crucial that the labour movement reaches out to groups of workers that have traditionally fallen through the organising net. Young workers are one of these groups. To help unions do just that, the ITF has produced a youth pack with all you need to know about organising young workers.
The ITF youth pack, available in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German and Russian, consists of a booklet, Powerpoint presentation and DVD. It aims to encourage unions to organise and promote young worker activism.
The booklet provides advice and guidelines on organising young workers, including case study examples revealing what other unions have done. It can be used on its own as a resource material or, using questions in the booklet, to stimulate debate during group work.
The powerpoint presentation can be used during group work to encourage debate.
The DVD, Be part of something big, is an ITF film encouraging young workers to become active in transport unions. A multilingual version is included in this pack.
